With this vibrant trio Domas introduces his new works and explorations, blending jazz, gospel, Baltic folk music and Afro-Caribbean rhythms.
Firmly anchoring the low end and stepping forward to deliver piercing solos, is a New England native Ian Quinton Banno, a versatile bass player with a wide-spanning performance experience. He had studied under V. Wooten, J. Patitucci, B. Gertz, H. Crook and Tia Fuller; performed at the Newport, Vail, DC Jazz festivals and Carnegie Hall (with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra).
Drummer Héctor L. Falu Guzmán was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he got exposed to diverse genres from his surroundings, but mainly Gospel and church music cultivated in the family. Simultaneously playful and mature, his style brings great agility to the trio’s repertoire. Hector’s strong connection to his nationality also fuels a passion to educate the US audience on political and civic issues daily faced by the people of Puerto Rico.
